情報や助言、影響を受けて何か行動を起こすこと。提案や命令を受けた後に実際に行動する場合によく使う表現。

やや硬い表現で、ビジネスや法律、科学の場面で使います。「act upon advice」「act upon information」は「助言に基づいて行動する」などと訳されます。
