Definition

権力や重要な責任、特に王や女王の地位を自ら辞すること。他の大きな役割や責任を放棄する場合にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に王やリーダーなどの重要な地位を辞める時や、大きな責任を放棄する場合に使う。単なる退職や辞職には使わない。
