Definition

शक्ति या ज़िम्मेदारी की किसी उच्च स्थिति को छोड़ना, खासकर जब राजा या रानी सिंहासन छोड़ते हैं। यह किसी महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारी को छोड़ने के लिए भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

औपचारिक शब्द; आमतौर पर राजघरानों या नेताओं के लिए ('abdicating the throne') लेकिन जिम्मेदारी छोड़ने के लिए भी ('abdicating responsibility')। केवल साधारण छोड़ने के लिए नहीं; महत्वपूर्ण चीज़ छोड़ने का भाव आता है।
