Definition

yard घर या इमारत के पास या उसके आसपास की खुली ज़मीन को कहते हैं। इसका एक अर्थ लंबाई की इकाई भी है, जो तीन फ़ुट के बराबर होती है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

रोज़मर्रा की American English में 'yard' अक्सर घर के बाहर की जगह के लिए आता है; British English में इसी अर्थ के लिए 'garden' ज़्यादा आम है। सामान्य संयोजन हैं 'front yard', 'back yard' और 'yard sale'। यह माप में भी आता है, जैसे 'ten yards away'.
