Bacakları olmayan, küçük, uzun ve yumuşak bir hayvandır. Genellikle toprakta yaşar, bazı türleri vücutta parazit olarak hastalığa neden olabilir.

‘solucan’ genellikle toprakta yaşar, vücut parazitlerine ‘kurt’ denir. ‘Tırtıl’ kelebek olur, karıştırmayın.
