Definition

選挙やグループの決定で、誰かや案に自分の意思を示して選ぶこと。また、名詞としては、その選ぶ行為や選ばれた票を指すこともある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'vote for'は人や案を支持すること、'vote against'は反対票を投じる意味。'cast a vote'は投票すること。日常では政治以外の小さなグループ決定にも使われる。'elect'とは違い、投票は人がし、選ばれるのは当選者。
