কোনো স্থানের নিকটবর্তী বা তার আশপাশের এলাকা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত, কোনো স্থানের ঠিক কাছাকাছি অঞ্চলের কথা বলা হয়।

'vicinity' সাধারণত অফিসিয়াল বা আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে ('in the vicinity of', 'the immediate vicinity') ব্যবহৃত হয়, 'neighborhood' এর মতো আবাসিক এলাকা বোঝায় না এবং ভিতরের অংশ নয়, বরং আশেপাশের এলাকা বোঝায়।
