Definition

谷は、山や丘の間にある低い土地のことで、しばしば川が流れています。周囲より低い地形全般を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に自然の地形、たとえば『山の谷』や『川の谷』などで使います。都市にはほとんど用いません。『canyon』（峡谷）とは形状が異なりますので注意。
