탑은 주변 건물이나 땅보다 높이 솟아 있는 길고 좁은 구조물입니다. 건물의 일부이거나 관찰, 통신, 방어 등의 목적으로 따로 세워지는 경우가 많습니다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

'clock tower', 'watchtower', 'radio tower', 'office tower'와 같이 자주 사용됩니다. 일반적인 건물과는 달리, 높이와 수직적인 형태를 강조할 때 사용합니다. 동사로 쓰면 주변보다 높이 솟다라는 뜻입니다.
