누군가에게 고의로 심한 신체적 또는 정신적 고통을 주는 것. 매우 괴로운 상황에도 사용할 수 있다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

보통 심각하거나 극적인 상황에서 사용된다. 신체적 고문(고문하다)뿐만 아니라 정서적 고통(자신을 괴롭히다)에도 쓴다. 진행형으로 자주 사용된다.
