1,000を表す数。大きな数や正確な数量を言う時によく使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

数量を数えるときや、『thousands of stars』のようにおおよその数を表す時にも使う。『one thousand』で単数、『thousands of』で複数となる。一つだけなら『a thousands』とは言わず『a thousand』を使う。
