“tense” in Bengali
Definition
যখন কেউ চাপ বা টেনশনে থাকে, অথবা কোনো পরিস্থিতি উদ্বেগপূর্ণ হয়। ব্যাকরণে, এটি ক্রিয়ার কোন সময় বোঝাতে ব্যবহার হয়, যেমন অতীত, বর্তমান বা ভবিষ্যৎ।
Usage Notes (Bengali)
'চাপা' শব্দটি অনুভূতি, পরিবেশ বা সম্পর্ক বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'কাল' ব্যাকরণে বিভিন্ন verb tense বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যেমন 'past tense', 'verb tenses'। 'intense' সঙ্গে নিশ্চয়ই গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
Examples
She looked tense before the exam.
পরীক্ষার আগে সে খুব **চাপা** দেখাচ্ছিল।
It was a tense silence in the room.
ঘরে এক ধরনের **চাপা** নীরবতা ছিল।
In this sentence, the verb is in the past tense.
এই বাক্যে, verbটি অতীত **কাল**-এ আছে।
Things got tense when nobody agreed on a plan.
যখন কেউ কোনো পরিকল্পনাতে একমত হলো না, তখন পরিবেশটা **চাপা** হয়ে গেল।
Why are you so tense? Try to relax.
