ज़मीन पर मिलने वाले या निर्माण में इस्तेमाल होने वाले कठोर चट्टानी टुकड़े। “Stones” आम तौर पर अलग-अलग पत्थरों के लिए कहा जाता है, पूरे पत्थर के पदार्थ के लिए नहीं।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

यह सामान्यतः countable noun है: “a stone”, “three stones”. छोटे और चिकने पत्थरों के लिए “pebbles” ज़्यादा सही होता है। अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में रोज़मर्रा की बोलचाल में “rock” ज़्यादा आम है, जबकि “stone” अक्सर तय अभिव्यक्तियों में आता है, जैसे “throw stones” और “stone wall”.
