「シャンク」は動物の脚の下部（特に料理用の肉部分）、または道具や武器などの細長い部分を指します。

料理では「ラムシャンク」「ビーフシャンク」のように使います。道具では持ち手や柄のこと。スラングで刑務所内の即席ナイフも指します。ゴルフ用語とは異なります。
