Definition

鎮静とは、医療処置中の不安や痛みを和らげるために薬で患者をリラックスさせたり眠くさせたりすることです。周囲への意識が薄れる場合もあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「鎮静」は医療用語です。「under sedation」「light/deep sedation」「sedation dentistry」などの表現で使われます。「麻酔」とは異なり、完全に痛みを消すわけではなく、意識も残ることがあります。
