一窩動物中最小或最弱的小動物，也可以用來形容個子很小或虛弱的人，有時帶有貶義。

用於人時大多帶有蔑視色彩，對動物則中性。如“the runt of the litter”描述一窩中最小的。稱別人爲“runt”要小心，容易冒犯。
