'Baris' berarti deretan orang atau benda yang sejajar, misalnya di meja, kelas, atau bioskop. Sebagai kata kerja, berarti menggerakkan perahu dengan dayung.

'In the front row' artinya di baris depan; 'a row of houses' berarti deretan rumah; 'row number five' berarti baris nomor lima. Dalam tabel atau tempat duduk, 'baris' itu horizontal, 'kolom' itu vertikal. Sebagai kata kerja, 'mendayung' biasanya untuk perahu. Hati-hati dengan 'row' yang berarti perkelahian dalam British English (lafal berbeda).
