Definition

物を力を入れて素早く引き裂く、または強く引っ張って取り除くこと。主に紙や服、袋などに使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に紙や服、包装などを破る場合に使います。「tear」よりも力強く、急激な印象があります。“rip off”は「だまし取る」という別の意味もありますが、ここでは急いで取り外すイメージです。
