他人の代理として行動したり話したりする人。また、議会などの公的な場で選出される人も指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「class representative」「sales representative」など、学校やビジネス、政治など様々な場面で使われます。口語では「rep」と略されますが、これはよりカジュアルです。「senator（上院議員）」と混同しないよう注意してください。
