地域とは、国や大陸、世界の中で、ある特徴を共有する広い範囲のことです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に地理、政治、ビジネスで使われます。「山岳地域」「都市地域」「沿岸地域」などの表現があります。“in the region of”は「約～」という意味。
