물이나 습지 주변에서 자라는 길고 가는 식물. 악기에서 소리를 내는 얇은 부품을 뜻할 때도 있다.

주로 자연에서는 식물을 의미하며, 음악 용어로는 클라리넷, 색소폰 등의 ‘리드(악기 부품)’를 뜻함. ‘read’(읽다)와 혼동하지 말 것.
