将来についての予想や見積もりのこと。現在のデータを元に計算することが多い。スクリーンなどに映された画像や影の意味もある。

ビジネスや科学分野で未来の数値予想（'sales projections'など）によく使われます。技術的には画像表示（'movie projections'）の意味も。予測は複数形で使うのが一般的です。
