가장 중요하거나 주된 것을 의미한다. 또한 시스템의 첫 단계(예: 초등학교)를 나타낼 때도 쓴다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

일상적, 공식적으로 모두 자주 쓰이며 주로 명사 앞에서 사용된다('primary goal', 'primary concern', 'primary source'). 교육에서 'primary school'은 초등학교를 의미. 'primary'와 'primitive'를 혼동하지 말 것.
