前例とは、過去の出来事や行動、決定で、後の類似する状況での参考や手本とされるものです。特に法律や公式な決定でよく使われます。

主に法律や公式な場面で使います。「precedentを作る」「precedentに従う」「前例のない」などに多いです。 'precedence'（優先順位）とは異なります。
