相手に理由や根拠を示して、何かをするように納得させること。自分の考えに同意してもらうニュアンスがあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「persuade someone to do」「persuade someone that～」の形でよく使い、「encourage」より強く、最終的に相手の同意を得るニュアンスがあります。「convince」は日常会話でよく使われますが、「persuade」はややフォーマル。
