「ペルシャ」はイラン（以前はペルシャと呼ばれていた）の物事や人々、またペルシャ語（ファルシー）、ペルシャ文化を指します。長毛種の猫（ペルシャ猫）も意味します。

「ペルシャ」は名詞（ペルシャ人、ペルシャ猫）や形容詞（ペルシャ料理）になる。言語としては「ペルシャ語」と呼ぶ。「イラン」以外には使わない。
