عادةً ما تشير "passages" إلى مقاطع قصيرة من كتاب أو مقال، أو إلى ممرات تربط أماكن مختلفة.

"passages" تستخدم بشكل رسمي في نصوص الأدب ('مقطع من رواية')، وحيادية للممرات. لا تخلط بينها وبين 'passengers' (ركاب).
