বিজ্ঞানের, চিকিৎসাবিদের ও প্রযুক্তিগত কথাবার্তায় বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়; যেমন 'optic nerve', 'optic lens', 'optic fiber'। সাধারণ কথায় 'চোখ' বেশি প্রচলিত। 'optical' শব্দটির সঙ্গে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
