何かや誰かがひとつしかない、あるいは数がとても少ないこと、または限定的であることを強調する時に使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマル・カジュアル両方でよく使います。名詞や形容詞、動詞の直前に置かれることが多いです（例：'the only one', 'only recently', 'I only want'）。よりフォーマルな「solely」とは区別します。同じ文で「only」を複数回使うのは避けましょう。
