Definition

神話とは、昔から語り継がれている神や英雄、起源にまつわる伝説の物語です。また、広く信じられているが実は誤りである考えも指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'myth'は学術的にも日常会話でもよく使われます。正式には伝統的な物語を指し、日常では誤った通説（例：'It's a myth that...'）という意味でも使われます。「legend」（伝説）とは使い方が異なるので注意しましょう。
