글이나 공식적인 자리에서 더 자주 쓰이며, 무엇인가를 하찮거나 별로라고 강조할 때 씁니다. 'a mere + 명사', 'the mere + 명사' 형태로 자주 나옵니다. 항상 'only'와 같은 의미로 쓰이지 않습니다.
