النمر هو قط بري كبير ذو فراء أصفر مرقط بالبقع السوداء، موطنه أفريقيا وأجزاء من آسيا.

كلمة 'نمر' تشير فقط للحيوان، أما النمط يُقال عنه 'نقشة النمر'. لا تخلط بينه وبين 'الفهد' (نوع آخر من القطط المرقطة).
