'length'の複数形。物や距離の長さを複数表す。さらに「go to great lengths」のように何かをするために注ぐ努力も意味する。

主にいくつかの長さや距離を比べる時、または"go to great lengths"（大変努力する）のような表現で使われる。「widths」（幅）と混同しないように。数学・科学・日常会話によく出る。
