مصطلح 'lecturer' يُستخدم غالبًا في جامعات بريطانيا للدلالة على مرتبة أقل من 'professor'. في أمريكا عادة يقال 'professor'. قد يُستخدم أيضًا لمن يلقي محاضرات عامة. لا تخلط بين 'lecturer' و 'teacher'.
