2つのものや人のうち、後に述べた方を指します。選択肢が2つあるときによく使われます。

必ず2つの選択肢にだけ使います。「the former（前者）」とセットで使われることが多いです。フォーマルな場や文章で使う表現です。

Examples

Of the two books, I prefer the latter.

2冊の本のうち、私は**後者**の方が好きだ。
