知能とは、学習したり理解したり、よく考える力のことです。また、政府や軍による秘密情報を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

日常的には知能は精神的な能力を指し、『高い知能』のように使います。ニュースや政治では『諜報』、つまり秘密情報の意味があります。'intellect'や'smartness'とは使い方が異なります。
