Definition

যেসব ব্যক্তি অপরাধে দোষী সাব্যস্ত হয়ে বা বিচার ক্ষণস্থায়ী থাকা অবস্থায় জেলে আটক থাকে, তাদের বলা হয় বন্দী।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

Prisons (কারাগার) নিয়ে কথা বললে 'বন্দী' বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। দৈনন্দিন ভাষায়ও 'কারাবন্দী' ব্যবহৃত হয়। হাসপাতালে নয়, মূলত কারাগারের জন্য।

Examples

The inmates eat breakfast at 7 a.m. every day.

**বন্দীরা** প্রতিদিন সকাল ৭টায় নাস্তা খায়।

Many inmates take classes to learn new skills while serving time.
