'impure' अक्सर औपचारिक या वैज्ञानिक संदर्भों में पदार्थों के लिए आता है, पर कभी-कभी नैतिक संदर्भ में भी। आम प्रयोग: 'impure water', 'impure thoughts'। 'unclean' (सिर्फ गंदा) या 'polluted' (पर्यावरण से जुड़ा) से अलग।
