時間、順序、重要性で他のすべてよりも前にあること、または一番目や最も重要なものや人のこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

形容詞や序数詞としてよく使われます。「first place」のように名詞の前や、「She arrived first」のように副詞として使います。「before」と混同しないこと。
