鳥の体を覆い、飛ぶのを助ける軽くて柔らかい部分。装飾や枕、服にも使われることがある。

『feathers』は鳥の羽全体を指すときに複数形で使います。「bird feathers」「a bed of feathers」などの表現がよく使われます。哺乳類の毛（fur）や魚・爬虫類のうろこ（scales）とは異なります。
