何かを発見したり、アイデアを確かめたり、条件によって何が起こるかを調べるために行うテストや科学的な手続き。主に科学分野で使われますが、新しい方法を試す意味でも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

科学では「実験」を可算名詞として使い、『do experiments』や『conduct experiments』などの形が多い。日常会話では動詞形「experiment」も使われる。『experience（経験）』と混同しないように注意。
