『expanded』は主に説明的やフォーマルな場面で使われ、 'expanded knowledge', 'expanded business' など抽象的な名詞と一緒に使われることが多いです。『exploded』（爆発した）とは混同しないでください。受動態（例：was expanded）でもよく使います。
