'Expanded' का प्रयोग आमतौर पर औपचारिक या वर्णनात्मक संदर्भों में किसी चीज़ के बढ़ने के लिए किया जाता है। अमूर्त संज्ञाओं ('expanded knowledge', 'expanded business') के साथ आम है। 'exploded' से भ्रमित न हों। अक्सर passive में उपयोग होता है ('was expanded')।
