ある物事を説明したり、理解しやすく示したりするもの。また、他の人が見習うべき人や行動のこと。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

説明や教育でよく使われます。「for example」は「例えば」、「set an example」は「模範を示す」の意味。「sample（サンプル）」とは違い、説明や見本が目的です。
