エントリーとは、場所に入ることや、その入り口、またはリストや日記、辞書などに書き込まれた項目、あるいはコンテストなどへ提出されたものを指します。

「entry fee」（参加費）、「main entry」（正面入り口）、「dictionary entry」（辞書の項目）、「journal entry」（日記の記述）、「competition entry」（応募作品）など幅広く使われます。「entrance」（物理的な入口）とは使い分けに注意。
