건물에서 사람이나 물건을 층 사이에 이동시키는 기계입니다. 주로 고층 건물에서 사용됩니다.

'Elevator'는 미국식 표현이고, 영국에서는 'lift'를 사용합니다. 주택용 소형 승강기나 산업용 리프트에는 잘 사용하지 않습니다.
