ऐसी मशीनें जो इमारतों में लोगों या सामान को एक मंज़िल से दूसरी मंज़िल तक ले जाती हैं। ब्रिटिश अंग्रेज़ी में इसे 'lift' कहते हैं।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

'elevator' अमेरिकी अंग्रेज़ी में और 'lift' ब्रिटिश अंग्रेज़ी में कहा जाता है। आम वाक्यांश: 'take the elevator', 'the elevator is out of order'। ये शब्द सामान्यतः बड़े भवनों में प्रयोग होता है, घरेलू या औद्योगिक लिफ्ट के लिए कम।
