आमतौर पर वस्तुओं, समूहों या संख्याओं को अलग करने के लिए ('divides into two parts', 'the river divides the city')। असहमति उत्पन्न करने के अर्थ में भी ('politics divides people')। 'Divides' वर्तमान काल में तीसरा व्यक्ति एकवचन है।
