일상과 공식 모두에서 자주 쓰임. '병으로 죽다', '어릴 때 죽다', '멸종하다 (die out)' 같은 표현에서 사용됨. '죽이다'는 '죽다'와 구분해야 하며, 이는 죽게 만드는 것을 의미함.
