"Det" هو اختصار لكلمة "detective" (محقق)، ويستخدم أساسًا كلقب أو رتبة في الشرطة، غالبًا قبل اسم الشخص.

يستخدم غالبًا في سياق الشرطة أو القصص البوليسية، وكاختصار مكتوب فقط قبل الأسماء ('Det. Smith'). نادرًا ما يُنطق، ويقال 'Detective' عند الحديث. لا يستخدم في المحادثات العادية.
